Start of Spring Sports

Adriana Kennedy

Spring sports have officially started for our Pottsgrove School District, each sport has both finalized their roster and even the schedules have gone out. The spring sports for this season are girls’ softball, boys’ baseball, girls and boys lacrosse, track and field, unified track and field, and boys’ tennis.

On Tuesday, the girls’ softball team had their first scrimmage of the season against Gwynedd Mercy and ended up with the win with the score of 3-1. Adriana Kennedy was the first player to score by stealing home plate. Mikayla Eckman pitched the first half of the game and the game ended off with Avery Gleason on the mound. Bailey Pysher was catching for both pitchers. It was a great start to the season and the players are stated to be excited for the rest of the season to come. Taydem Kelly says, “This season has been great so far. I feel that everybody has come together and has been working hard and bonding.”

Also on Tuesday, both the boys JV and varsity lacrosse team had their first scrimmage against Kennett Square. Both teams fought hard and had fun throughout the game but unfortunately did not take the win. The team is very hopeful and excited for their next upcoming scrimmages and games. The final score for the JV team was 8-2, and the varsity team ended up with a score of 13-2. Landon Novitski is quoted as saying, “I have a feeling that we are going far in this season and I’m having so much fun learning new things and seeing improvements in the team!”

Just a reminder to continue to support our Pottsgrove athletes’ teams and come watch upcoming games for each of the sports!
