Animation Story Settings

Emmaleigh Kulp

The students in animation are working on their story setting projects. After making the characters and story they started working on the setting of the stories. Some settings are located underwater while others are in medieval times, forests, and boardwalks. Everyone is working really hard to complete their settings. A few students used mixed media while others stuck to one medium  such as colored pencils. After students complete their settings they will draw and paint their characters with acrylic on acetate sheets so they can overlay their characters onto their settings. Two students are done and ready to move onto the next project. It’s interesting to see what they will come up with and how much they vary from one another. Each student and art piece has unique styles that really portray the tone of the setting. The students are also utilizing the colors to assist with getting across the emotions of the scenes. The boardwalk and underwater settings use more vibrant and saturated colors portraying a sense of calm, wonder, and joy, whereas the medieval setting uses a mix of both dark and light colors to portray a more epic and heroic scene. When all of the art is done, they should look wonderful and absolutely amazing.
