Recently, pop singer, Ariana Grande posted on the social media platform, TikTok that blew up in just a few couple of hours. In it, she addresses the many rumors, comments, complaints, and concerns about her body. In the TikTok, she stated that “Healthy can look different” because of fans’ concerns over her body. Many people have had concerns over how her body looks “thin, weak, and fragile.” She says that the body people compared to her current body is what people thought was her healthiest body. “I was on a lot of antidepressants and drinking on them and eating poorly and at the lowest point of my life when I looked the way you consider my healthy but that in fact wasn’t my healthy,” she says in the post. In the music industry, body shaming is a very big trend for internet trolls and fans. Grande has always had to deal with that spotlight, as well as many other singers like Lizzo and Meghan Trainor, who have encouraged major body positivity. She urges people to “be gentler and less comfortable commenting on people’s bodies, no matter what.” Society has gotten very critical about the appearances of current celebrities, actors, and models in recent years. She ends the video with, “I think you’re beautiful, no matter what you’re going through, no matter what weight, no matter how you like to do your makeup these days, no matter what cosmetic procedures you’ve had or not or anything. I just think you’re beautiful and wanted to share some feelings. Have a very beautiful day, and I’m sending you a lot of love,” says Grande. At the end of the day we are all human and we have a body that we should all love and care for.
