Takeoff, one of the three rappers in the group, Migos, was shot and killed outside a Houston bowling alley after a private party. Takeoff, whose real name was Kirsnick Khari Ball, was 28 years old. According to The New York Times, the private party was held at 810 Billiards & Bowling and a large group of about 40 people were present. As the party ended, an argument occurred near the front door and shots were fired from two or more weapons, which sent people running. In regards to Takeoff’s role in the incident, Chief Troy Finner of the Houston Police Department stated, “We have no reason to believe that he was involved in anything criminal at the time.” Chief Finner confirmed that the rapper was dead at a news conference on November 1st. No suspects have been arrested, but authorities have asked any witnesses who fled the bowling alley to come forward with any helpful information.

Takeoff was killed in a commercial area on a quiet rainy day, so some young fans donated bouquets of roses and lit candles. Tatiana Battle, 23, said, “When I heard the news it got me to tears.”  Drew Findling, one of Takeoff’s lawyers, expressed his sorrow and talked highly about Takeoff’s persona by stating, “When you’re around Takeoff, there’s a sense of peacefulness about his aura. He listens to you, he looks at you, he’s more focused on what you have to say than what he has to say. The world was starting to learn about Takeoff. It was his time to shine.” Whether it was one of the rapper’s many fans or one of his own lawyers, they all were heartbroken to hear about his sudden death, which highlights how much of a calm and kind person he was.
