Awareness for Darrius Waller

Grace Novitski

December 5, 2021 around 9:30 p.m. Darrius Waller’s life was taken away. Darrius was a father, brother, boyfriend, and an overall amazing friend. On December fifth Darrius was shot in his own Jeep right across the street from his friends’ house. That Monday, December 6th, they held a memorial for him and many people showed up and knew Darrius was very well known in the community, and will forever be.

Adriana Kennedy says, “I truly believe that this was taken out of hand, it should never have gone this far. Darrius had his whole life ahead of him, he was a father, it’s truly upsetting.” Darrius was thirty-six, and over the past week his family has spent time remembering all their amazing memories with him. It’s hard to know that the only thing they have left of him is just old memories.

Delaney Rice says, “I believe this was a huge misunderstanding. The man should’ve come up and spoken to him, if he had that big of a problem. He was just a regular human sitting in his car. It’s sad that things like this happen.” The situation could have been talked out, violence should not have been the answer.

My condolences go out to the Waller family and friends, may he rest in peace.
