The Devastations Left by Hurricane Ida

Logan Godshall

It’s no surprise that Hurricane Ida left a complete mess of mass destruction everywhere it went. It was a category 4 Atlantic hurricane that swept through everything in people’s lives from August 26, 2021 through September 4, 2021. Not only did the destruction happen fast, but everything became worse when it began to flood. It flooded almost everything, including homes, streets, subways, basements.

According to The NY Times, an 18 year old boy named Kevin Rivera found that he was no longer a stranger to the floods. Kevin worked at a Chick-fil-A in New Jersey. After leaving work he was looking for was a sidewalk but was pulled into a ravine that led into a sewer pipe in South Plainfield, N.J. This quote was taken from Mr. Rivera, “I couldn’t comprehend where I was, or where I was going.” He later adds: “All I felt was concrete. When I realized I was in a tunnel, I just let the water take me.” Rescuers found him with no life threatening injuries sustained. Kevin was one of the hundreds of people in danger from the hurricane. Hurricane Ida brought pain and destruction everywhere it went.
