Winter Sports Have Been Postponed
December 15, 2020
Winter sports have stopped due to rising Coronavirus cases. Now that we are in the middle of November, all fall sports have come to an end, which means it is time for Winter sports. Unfortunately the deadly Coronavirus numbers are spiking. Montgomery County came out on Friday, November 14, it was decided to shut down schools and activities starting on November 23. If there is not a huge spike in numbers, students are expected to be back in school on December 6th. Following that date all winter sports have to have at least 15 practices before their first game, pushing their season back even farther. The winter sports at Pottsgrove are Girls and Boys Basketball, Swimming, Winter track, Bowling, and Wrestling. I spoke to senior Riley Simon, point guard on the Girls Basketball Team, who said, “It sucks since this is most of the girls last year and it’s getting cut short.”
“Just as I make varsity they want to shut down Basketball again,” says Junior Jack Potpinko.
Let’s hope that Winter sports get to have their season this year!
