Pre-Trip Overview
Pottsgrove High School is having its first international trip in 2 weeks to Costa Rica! This trip is a once-in-a-lifetime experience where everyone gets to come together as a class as we learn about other cultures while still having so much fun. We are going on an eight-day excursion with fun-filled activities. These activities include zip lining over the rain forest, snorkeling, a cooking class with locals, Thermal Springs, Coffee farm, Chocolate farm, Pineapple Plantation, Wildlife refuge, and so much other fun stuff! As we get to experience and take in the beautiful scenery, we really get to debrief and take in learning about others and how they go about their day-to-day life. Not only is this an amazing trip but it is filled with great educational opportunities. Now you may be wondering who started this all. Well, let’s… give a big thanks to Mrs. Mortimer! Who is not only hosting and getting this trip ready for us, but she has already planned an Italy and Greece trip, which is coming up next year! Pottsgrove High School has been on many field trips and has traveled places, but never have we taken or had an international trip like this before. Where may we be going? Where are we staying? We are staying in three different parts of Costa Rica, starting in Liberia for a few days and then heading to San Carlos and, most excitingly, ending in San Jose, where you get to experience the city!
Post Trip Review
Returning from Costa Rica, it is difficult to avoid noticing a change in pace, mindset, and luxury. Out of it all, it genuinely was such an empowering experience. From all the excursions to the language barrier, the amazing food, it was a trip to never forget. To explain more of the bigger picture, the food was amazing, but all was around the same criteria, such as eating beans, rice, chicken, pork, amazing fresh fruit,t and vegetables. It was honestly the best fuel to help keep us going through the day. Now, for excursions, the most unforgettable would have to be zip lining and the La Fortuna waterfall. Not many people would imagine being 300 feet in the air over the rainforest. It was such a beautiful sight with animals, and the view was just everything about it. The La Fortuna waterfall was also pretty spectacular. It was definitely a hike to get there, but the walk is worth it. Not only did you get a beautiful view, but you got to swim in it and really take it all in. There were some days when it was more laid back, such as going to a dance class, swimming with all your friends, or even getting ice cream before dinner! And I would love to give such a big thank you to our tour guide Diego ,who made it a safe, inspiring trip, and all the teachers who became all our friends and helped guide us the whole way, while in a way making us more independent. Don’t forget Italy is coming next year!!
