On today’s teacher feature, we will be looking at teacher Mr Horry. Tymir Wallace, a student of Mr Horrys, interviewed him to gain a greater insight into what he does daily as a teacher and to learn some interesting things about him. He wants to share how interesting of a teacher Mr Horry is so please enjoy learning a little about him. Mr. Horry is in his 3rd year teaching at Pottsgrove High School and he teaches tech education. The classes that Mr Horry teaches are called wood shop, broadcasting & video production, robotics, and more classes that deal with technology. His favorite class to teach is a wood shop. Mr Horry previously taught middle school students in a Philly charter school 3 years before high school. He state,d “ that school was terrible”.
Mr. Horry attended college at West Chester University in Westchester, PA. He didn’t always know that he wanted to be a teacher. It wasn’t until he volunteered in a classroom then decided teaching would be good for him. Mr Horry said that teaching was way better for his mental health and he is glad to be able to maintain healthy mental health while being able to pay his mortgage. In 5 years Mr Horry still sees himself at Pottsgrove. He is very liked by all his students, one of his students, Maleah Salata-Warrick thinks he’s very chill and laid back. I had Mr. Horry from my freshman year up to my junior year and I can guarantee that he is one of the best and unique teachers.
Mr. Horry says some things have changed in high school from when he was a high school student. There’s free lunch now, his class was the first class to take keystones, and they didn’t have personal computers; they would have a room with desktop computers for each student to share. A lot more has changed, but that’s the specific things he shared. Mr Horry’s go-to fast food is Popeyes and he orders spicy chicken tenders. Last but not least for a little goofy ending, Mr Horry does not believe a taco is a sandwich and for his reasoning, it’s because the bread or shell doesn’t separate.
