Many things have changed at Pottsgrove High School, one thing that has stayed the same is the beloved math teacher, Mrs. Holli Artim. She is currently in her 26th year of teaching. Prior to teaching here, she pursued her education at Bloomsburg University and taught in California for two summers. Mrs. Artim has always wanted to become a teacher, Mr. Rudy and Mr. Vanbuskirk (her high school teachers) have inspired her greatly to become the person she is today. With teaching as long as she is, you are bound to make new friends along the way. Mrs. Artim has made a lot, including Mr. Wit, Mr. Shantz, Mrs. Lilly, and Ms. Small. Many people can agree that Mrs. Artim is an outstanding teacher, Mr. Wit says “She is a kind and compassionate teacher that puts the students first! As a coworker, she is always willing to lend a helping hand or an open ear. She makes Pottsgrove a better place to come to work or school.”
Outside of school, Mrs. Artim loves to hang out with her family, bake, and perform outdoor activities. While she’s with her family she enjoys traveling, watching movies, and trying new restaurants; one of her favorites is a friend-owned restaurant called Josie’s. Every year for vacation, she and her family go to New Hampshire beach, it’s their favorite! Currently, her favorite show is Seinfeld and her favorite author is James Patterson. Then, during the interview I asked her about her Wawa order, she then went on to talk about how much she loved to get their Italian panini and coffees.
Mrs. Artim has a diverse in-school and social life, she enjoys involving herself in many different activities. When she was younger she had many different experiences. Today, if she could talk to her younger self she would say to have more confidence and keep pushing yourself to get to where you want to go. There is a list of things Mrs. Artim would like her students to take with them in the ongoing years, one of them is, to never give up, believe in yourself, and make mistakes is okay. Mrs. Artim also wants them to know that life isn’t easy and that having a support system will help you through your hardships greatly. The role model she is to her students is very significant to who she is as not only a teacher but as a friend, wife, mom, and just an overall person in general. Brooke Robinson, one of her students, says “Mrs. Artim is a very understanding person, she guides me through anything and everything! I love it when she is there to support me and ensure I understand everything about the material.” She is a great teacher who is very dedicated to what she does, can’t wait to see what the future years hold for her!
