Pottsgrove needs its school store, it supplies students with the ability to get what they need. If a student needs a pencil they can grab one, same with erasers and other needed supplies. The school store can also supply students with more than just the needs, for example, gum and school spirit wear. The school store can also help students prepare for upcoming spirit weeks, allowing students who can’t get a red shirt to participate. A school store would also be a source of income for the school so they could put more money into programs. So why don’t we have a school store? Pottsgroves DECA club or Distributive Education Clubs of America, used to run the school store. However, according to Mr. Kriebel, they shut it down due to students vaping and insufficient students in DECA to run the school store. Another issue with the school store is where we would have it because the location where it used to be is now used for the tech department. The school store is important because not only does it allow students to get what they need at any point during the school day, but it can also help students learn how to run a business and prepare them for the real world.
