Mrs. Jamie Tomko, otherwise known as Ms Weidman, is a teacher in Pottsgrove’s math department. She has taught full-time here at Pottsgrove for five years while also being a long-term sub at the middle school before she moved down to the high school. Mrs Tomko fills up her schedule both in and out of school. Not only does she teach three different math classes, Algebra I, honors geometry, and Trigonometry, but she also helps out with night school math. When asked about her favorite class Mrs Tomko stated “Honors geometry is probably my favorite class because I’ve done it for so long, but trigonometry is a fun new one.” Not only is she busy with all her math classes, but when asked if she wanted to teach anything else she said Algebra II or gym would be fun. She would also want to coach the Pottsgrove girl’s volleyball team.
Mrs Tomko’s first career choice was a teacher and studied to be a teacher at Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania. When asked about her inspiration to teach she said “I always wanted to teach but my high school math teacher who I had for three years was my inspiration for math.”
Mrs Tomko’s life outside of school is just as exciting as her life in school. Outside of school Mrs Tomko’s favorite activities are to hike or do anything outdoors, read books, and watch shows and movies on a variety of streaming services. Mrs Tomkos is trying to go to all the natural parks and has gone to Cuyahoga Valley National Park and Shenandoah National Park. One day she would like to camp at the state parks, continuing camping as she did with her family when she was younger. Her favorite books are The Outsiders by S.E. Hilton, and Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini, She also read Nicholas Sparks including, The Notebook, The Choice, Dear John, and A Walk to Remember which used to be one of her favorite movies. Her favorite shows are Grey’s Anatomy and New Girl. One of her favorite music artists is the superstar Taylor Swift, with her favorite song being twenty-two.
Mrs. Tomko has recently gotten married on October 21, 2023, to Ron Tomko, and went from Ms. Weidman to become Mrs. Tomko. She had a beautiful wedding filled with friends and family. When asked if she enjoyed it she said that she loved it and it was great. Mrs Tomko also has a four-year-old pitbull that she adopted from an event for free named Robin.
Some of her favorite teacher friends are Mrs. Compton and most of the math department. Another one of her favorite teacher buddies is Mrs Wilcox. When asked what Mrs Tomko wants students to take away from her class she said how to be a decent human being and a little bit of math would also be cool. Mrs. Tomoko’s favorite quote is fall down seven times, stand up eight. She has this quote tattooed on her left arm.
Mrs. Tomko is a positive addition to the math department, with her hardworking attitude and overall friendly attitude, she helps make Pottsgrove a great place to learn.
