U.S. Calls for DON’T TRAVEL states in Mexico

More stories from Gisella Ramos

The U.S. Department of State has called for many Do Not Travel Mexican states because of soaring crime and kidnapping rates during these past couple of weeks. 4 Americans were a part of a deadly kidnapping in the border city of Matamoros, across from Brownsville, Texas. Eric James Williams was one of the victims on March 3rd.  According to The New York Post, “By Tuesday, Williams, 38, and Latavia “Tay” McGee, 35, were found in a shack in an area east of Matamoros and were rushed back to the U.S. for medical care in Brownsville.” Unfortunately, their friends Shaeed Woodard and Zindell Brown were found later, deceased. Because of the many crimes, including this one, the U.S. Department of State has decided to update their Mexican Travel Advisory, adding many states to their Do Not Travel list as a precaution. Rumors say that they added the states to the list before Spring Break, as many Americans vacation down in Mexico for the break. Some of the states on the list include Colima, Guerrero, Michoacan, Sinaloa, Tamaulipas, and Zacatecas states. If you are traveling down to Mexico this Spring Break, practice the utmost caution or reconsider traveling this year.
