Pottsgrove Wrestling
January 9, 2023
Last night was a thrilling meet for our wrestling team against Pottstown. The Falcons took home a win for their first league match with a score of 58-18. The team had four pins by varsity members Dom Sithens (senior), Brendan Rivera (senior), Nathan Gillin (junior), and Dom Demeno (senior) who had an impressive first period pin. The junior varsity squad also had an impressive night with two hard fought pins by Cristobal Garcia (sophomore) and Kris Xian (sophomore). Senior varsity member Trenton Allen had a great fight on the mat, which he won, causing him to earn the Outstanding Wrestler award.
This team has amazing chemistry and loads of talent, which made last night’s meet entertaining to watch. Pottsgrove has a strong team this year with a lot of good things ahead of them this season. We should get to see both the team and individual wrestlers go far and have a competitive season.
Head coach Madden had lots to say about last night’s meet, “Overall the night was great because everyone in the Pottsgrove wrestling programs were combined. We also won the border battle for the seventh year in a row and our young guys wrestled well.” Sophomore Kris Xian also talked about his match, “I was so happy and I put in a lot of hard work and was very tired at the end. My motivation to pin him was so I’d be able to stop wrestling.”
