Percy Jackson

Percy Jackson and the Olympians is a show streaming on Disney plus in late 2023. It is based on the award winning series written by Rick Riordan, who is also overseeing the film’s production. The show follows a 12 year old boy named Percy Jackson and his journey as a demigod (half god half human). Percy is the son of the Greek god Posiden. Some of the cast includes Walker Scobel as Percy Jackson, who has acted in other movies such as The Adam Project and Secret headquarters. Leah Jeffries as Annabeth Chase, who has acted in movies such as Beast and PawParazzi. Finally Aryan Simhadri as Grover Underwood, who acted in Trevor: The Musical and Cheaper by the Dozen.
The series is going to be much closer to the books than the movies were. The trailer itself was almost word word word from the novel. So far there is only one season announced but there is a very good chance that more will follow. The teaser trailer on Twitter has around 287,000 likes and 5.7 million views, showing just how excited fans are for the show. The first season will be around 5 episodes long and based on The Lightning Thief, Riordan’s first novel of the Percy Jackson book series.
The best part is with this series already loved by fans a year before it releases, it is highly likely that there will be a second series to follow the Percy Jackson and the Olympians show. Riordan has many successful book series such as The Heroes of Olympus and The Trials of Apollo, all of which follow the events of Percy Jackson and the Olympians.
Percy Jackson movies have been done before, so why is it being redone? A lot of the fans complained because the movies had very little similarities with the book. That is one of the reasons Riordan is watching over the show’s production, even with fans being upset about the movies they are still ecstatic about the new show.
